Enterprise search portal optimizes knowledge sharing at Novo Nordisk

Netcompany has assisted Novo Nordisk with a new enterprise search solution that improves Novo Nordisk employees' knowledge productivity through the creation of an innovative and modern portal and search interface.

Challenge

As a leading pharmaceutical company, Novo Nordisk is one of the largest knowledge based companies in Europe. All key value-adding processes depend on its position at the forefront of scientific and technological knowledge combined with its profound insights on markets and users.

Novo Nordisk Library is a key factor in supporting employees worldwide in identifying, accessing, post-processing and analyzing publicly available information (free or fee based).

In line with this role, the overall vision of the enterprise search project was to improve Novo Nordisk employees' knowledge productivity throughout the creation of an innovative and modern portal and search interface.

 

Solution

The new library portal and enterprise search interface provides a central access point to all available content, and supports search and processing capabilities. Furthermore, it adds value through selective and focused collection management.

The new solution has improved the user experience by:

  • Providing one-stop access to internal and external information sources

  • Facilitating user access to current knowledge and new publications within and beyond their field of expertise

  • Optimizing daily and exploratory search tasks

 

Results

The ambitious search portal was developed on an Adobe CQ CMS platform and the search back-end was based on a number of products from ExLibris. The end-result is a very user-friendly tool that supports the employees in finding the relevant information in an easy and personalized way from a huge amount of information in the library.
