Case study
Delivery of Sharepoint Online and data migration from legacy platforms (SP2013 & MySites) to Sharepoint Online.
A Directorate within a Government department dealing with secure data needed to migrate approximately 1.5TB of SharePoint data and a further 1.4TB from personal MySite shares hosted by their incumbent 3rd party supplier.
Due to the contractual situation with the supplier, this was a time pressured engagement required to be completed before the end of Q1 2019.
Netcompany engaged with the Directorate and their Supplier to determine the scope of activities. After which, we delivered the O365 platform, completed the configuration and delivery of SharePoint Online and OneDrive for Business, using the Government project delivery life cycle model.
Netcompany created and executed the migration strategy; driving and assuring quality throughout the process and managing relationships with the 3rd Party Supplier. The successful migration of the data in January 2019, enabled the Directorate to exit their contract with their supplier, thereby saving approximately £6M in reengagement costs.
Results
- Successfully deployed O365 to enable the Government Department’s move to an Evergreen and Cloud first approach to delivering EUC services
- Successful enablement of SharePoint Online & OneDrive for Business within the Government Department
- Successful migration of data from external suppliers into O365 within the Government Department
