Jamie Simm, Consultant, United Kingdom
“Netcompany focus heavily on your personal development, the approach is structured and organized with achievable and challenging goals for you to strive toward”
What and where did you study?
Computer Science at Newcastle University.
Why did you choose to take a job at Netcompany?
Upon leaving university the number of different graduate careers open to application is overwhelming. It’s very difficult to know which organisation is right for you and I found many of them to be very similar. Netcompany was one of the very few businesses that stood out from the crowd and did so in ways that I found interesting and positive. To name but a few: Netcompany are one of the fastest growing IT companies out there, an attribute that is excellent for career progression; we span six countries with ten offices, from Ho Chi Minh city to Oslo to London, meaning there are exciting opportunities for travel; the application process is people focused – as it should be for a client-facing, consultancy role – which results in like-minded people being employed into a cohesive company atmosphere.
How have you experienced your own personal and professional development at Netcompany?
Netcompany focus heavily on your personal development, the approach is structured and organized with achievable and challenging goals for you to strive toward. It is impressive that Netcompany can do this so well without losing the human element entirely unlike the box-ticking, score-based system used by many businesses. Perhaps the most effective element about personal and professional progression at Netcompany is that you are rewarded and recognized for it – you always feel that your efforts and successes are appreciated.
What motivates you in your work?
Overcoming challenging situations and problems. Netcompany’s reputation as a high-tech, capable consultancy means our portfolio is filled with intricate projects using modern, complex systems. This makes it a fantastic environment for someone who thrives under pressure and enjoys a challenge.
What has been a nice surprise about working for Netcompany?
The company’s commitment to social responsibility and giving back to the communities in which we operate. Netcompany are always organizing their next fundraiser or charity event and are currently partnered with Macmillan Cancer Support as well as planning future code academies, soup kitchens, ecological clean-up days and more through the Corporate Social Responsibility society.
