Job Description

Our Service Management Practice at Netcompany delivers infrastructure support services to a significant number of clients, across multiple sectors. The current Service Delivery team is approximately 20 strong and offers prospective candidates with the opportunity for significant recognition, skills and technology exposure with excellent career development and training across multiple business areas.

The role is primarily Leeds based however our IT Asset/Service Configuration Managers are expected to work at our client locations as and when required.


Our IT Asset/Service Configuration Managers are typically responsible for the ownership and maintenance of the entire Configuration & Asset Management operation and end-to-end operation of the Service Configuration Management process for one or more of our clients. The candidate will support the wider Infrastructure and Operations teams to ensure we maintain an accurate record of the IT assets in our estate within an ITIL® framework.


Key Responsibilities include:

  • Oversight of the entire IT Asset Management and Service Configuration Management lifecycle of all Assets and Configuration Items (CIs) within a Configuration Management Database (CMDB);
  • Adherence to prescribed lifecycle process and procedures to ensure the registration, maintenance and control of the CMDB to ensure the integrity and accuracy of the data within.
  • Engaging with Delivery Groups and Service Owners to provide advice and guidance on the Service Configuration Management process and identify the Service Owners for new CI’s,.
  • Working to and defining a Service Configuration Management process, with associated Configuration Management tooling.
  • Managing operational IT service data using ServiceNow CMDB.
  • Implementation of discovery tools and reconciliation of data, ServiceNow Service Mapping and maintaining Service Models.
  • Contribution to Incident, Problem and Change Management processes and their use of CMDB data.
  • Managing the lifecycle of all business assets and developing, introducing, and implementing the ITAM framework ensuring repeatable, measurable, consistent processes for Asset Management
  • Conducting audit and compliance work, raising any data quality/completeness issues with Data Owners and Service Providers
  • Working with internal teams and 3rd parties to ensure we remain compliant to any licence requirements and within any hardware support
  • Communicating with non-technical stakeholders across the business in an efficient manner
  • Collect and manage configuration data in asset tracking database and ensure information is up-to-date, accurate, and auditable
  • Attending process review forums across all Service Towers to continually improve and drive the effectiveness of the process
  • Production and maintenance of Process and Procedure relating to ITAM/SCM and providing training where required to stakeholders as required.



  • Working in a combined ITAM and Service Configuration Manager role within an ITIL based organisation.
  • Self-motivation, flexibility, initiative, and integrity to efficiently deliver within the role with minimal intervention or supervision.
  • Experience of differing support models and be able to appraise these against a set of SLAs/KPIs.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills are essential to ensure all parties associated with the service maintain a clear understanding of the status of the service and associated tasks at all times.
  • Be able to produce clear and concise written reports with detailed data and information
  • Experience of working in a multi-provider environment would be advantageous.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain effective control over many tasks in parallel.
  • Knowledge of Cloud hosted environments and how best to represent in a CMDB.
  • Experience in producing bid responses and identifying sales opportunities an advantage.
  • ITIL Foundation level certification is highly desirable.
  • Good understanding of Service Management practices with a minimum of 3 years IT Asset/Service Configuration Management experience.
  • Experienced working in a fast-paced ITIL aligned environment and demonstrate a passion for Customer Service and Continual Improvement.
  • Ability to develop training material, schedule and facilitate training sessions for internal and external resources, mentoring skills.
  • BPSS or eligible for clearance.
